Abstract Aim Emergency appendectomy is one of the most common emergency procedures done. Negative rates vary and aim was to identify rate it at a DGH. Method Appendectomy cases small regional hospital were during 2-year period (2017-2018) included. Elective interval appendectomies excluded. Histopathology findings noted. Results 78 patient had an appendectomy, which 87% (n = 68) done laparoscopically. Normal appendix on pathology found in 13.8% 12) removed appendices. They all laprascopically. The majority females 11) compared males 1). 58% normal 7) identified as macroscopically appendix. 36% mid-cycle 4). mean WBC admission 9.5 (4.8-13.6 x109/L) . All transabdominal USS initial investigation but inconclusive. Conclusion are still high female patients, whether doing further scans such TVUSS or CTAP might reduce risks getting negative needs be discussed tailored each case, young patients reproductive age group.
